[When she turns back to him, the color is still high on her cheeks, but she's smiling as usual.]
Don't be. I enjoyed the view. I just wasn't expecting it.
[She stretches up to kiss his cheek, trying very hard to not rile herself up again by thinking about his body heat. And that, of course, is when she starts thinking about it, so she steps back to gesture to the slow cooker. Food is a good distraction.]
Dinner this time is enchiladas and cilantro rice with jicama slaw, by the way! I was supposed to give it to you after I asked my question, but...oh well.
I didn't know when you'd be stopping by, so ... yeah.
[ He's still being a bit shy, mostly because he's still slightly embarrassed about the earlier situation. He bends over slightly to make it easier for her to kiss him, coughing once into his fist before his gaze flickers over to the slow cooker. ]
No, no! It's fine. But... what did you want to ask, anyway?
[It's easy to curl into his embrace like this, his heat still tantalizing but tempered with the sweetness of his gesture. Minako sets her cheek on his collarbone and hides a smile.]
Then...would you like to be my plus one for my friend's wedding?
[Honestly he hasn't met a lot of her friends yet, and that's something she's gotten a little bit of flack for from them. But she likes it this way. David is a part of her life that doesn't have to be for everyone else, that she doesn't have to share, when her life has involved sharing so much of herself to strangers. Neighbors, yes, but still strangers.]
Sorey is-- well, okay, they're both archaeology nerds, but Sorey is the hipster nerd on top of that. He was one of my conversation partners when I first moved here and needed help perfecting my fluency in English, so we're really close. And Mikleo is his complete opposite in some ways, but he's so sweet and attentive to Sorey, and amazing in the kitchen. [She laughs quietly.] Sorey would literally die if Mikleo weren't there to feed him and make sure he doesn't overwork himself.
[ It probably doesn't help that his schedule is as sporadic as it can be at times. Having a social life isn't exactly something you always can get in his line of work. ]
Yeah, I think I can make time for it, then. It'd be a nice chance to get away from the usual for a bit.
If being better than paperwork and unreality is all I have to do to keep your interest, then I might be in trouble. The cats will give me stiff competition.
[She pouts, but then her smile turns dangerously mischievous.]
Then perhaps I'll go easy on you.
[She raises her hands from his waist and starts tickling his sides mercilessly. She's not entirely sure he is ticklish there, but today is the day she's going to find out.]
Oh, so you are ticklish here, [she coos, following him and immediately redoubling her efforts. She likes his uninhibited laughter, likes how it tremors through his body enough that she can feel it against her fingertips and palms.] No escaping from me!
[ There's a garbled sound that's essentially him trying to escape, but his efforts seem to be constantly thwarted while he does so, especially since she seems to be doubling down rather than backing off. not that he minds, of course, but it's been a long time since this has happened. ]
[As he tries to escape, she wraps her arms around him from behind, fingers skimming across his stomach before locking him into her embrace and tickle punishment.]
[ David's sputtering as he's halfheartedly trying to break loose - but he eventually gets one hand over hers and doubles over, trying to catch his breath long enough to be able to actually say anything. ]
[She's still gonna tickle him for a few more seconds in revenge for that perhaps comment. Eventually she relaxes, though, muffling her giggles into his back.]
[ David's breathing finally calms down and evens out when Minako relents, and he slumps forward slightly in fake defeat before he turns his head to look back at her. ]

Are you busy on New Year's Day, first of all?

[ He shifts forward, moving to gently pry her arms off her sides and placing them around his waist instead. ]
Though I'm sure he'd probably let me take off once I make sure he's situated with water and takeout.

You haven't met them yet. Sorey and Mikleo.

One day I’ll have taken you out on enough dates that you don’t feel like you have to get away from the usual, because it is your usual.
[But today is not that day! It still makes her so happy that he’s agreeing, though.]

[ He laughs, bending down slightly to kiss the top of her head. ]
It's a better kind of different than what we deal with sometimes.

Number one, even.

Are you calling me your number one girl?

... how the hell did i miss this one :T

Did you want me to get anything else out besides plates and settings for the food?

[A peck to his cheek, and then she's humming as she heads back into the kitchen, a little skip in her step.]
