[She pulls away a bit, hesitating at the question. She doesn't want to sour the mood of their date...and yet there's so much she wants to tell him.]
Things could be worse. My group has been lucky enough to avoid most danger, I think. It's just the homesickness that's been really bad. [She bites her lip.] And my brother.
He was...you know the weapon I use, to summon? [Her gun.] He had a disagreement with some of his group members about what they should do with some ant hills in their pathway, and he. Kind of...threatened them with the Evoker. [And now her words come more quickly.] Everyone is fine, it's not like firing it at them would've done anything, that's not how it works. But my policeman friend in his group confiscated his weapons and I just-- I can't believe he'd do all of that, on top of everything else he's done...
It's okay. I'm sorry things are strained between you two. Like I said before, I can't really talk, I was an only child. But I get that you want to try and reconnect, and things like that doesn't exactly help that.
[ His expression softens as he tilts her head up to look at him. ]
And I'm sorry I brought it up when it still clearly bothers you.
[She burrows into his chest, hating the tensing of the corners of her eyes that signals the threat of tears. Several friends have given her advice on what to do with Minato, so she honestly doesn't need any more-- at least, not right now. But today is essentially an effort to follow their suggestions. She doesn't need to cry, doesn't need to worry about her brother. She just needs a day to relax. To step back and remember that she is Minako, not Minato's sister.
So with herculean strength, she swallows it all down, meeting his gaze with dry eyes.]
It's okay. I do want to tell you everything eventually, it's just that things keep happening and we haven't been able to see much of each other, and... [An exhale.] After all this time I'm still sorting out my feelings about it. For today, can it just be about us instead?
[The kiss helps a little, but it still takes a good ten minutes of walking and leaning into his warmth for her to shake off her mood, turning her thoughts over and over in her head like a raffle drum and hoping that the one that comes loose will solve all her problems. If only it were that easy. But finally she nuzzles his arm and looks up at him, her smile thanking him for his patience with her.]
Do we still have time before our reservation? Because I'm kind of feeling like running through the jungle gym right now.
[The swings have never failed to lift her up, figuratively and literally.]
[She might regret it later when she's all sweaty and they're going to walk into a nice restaurant? But right now it sounds like fun. And with a laugh she dashes off without him.]
[ Luckily one, David's the one who suggested it, so he obviously doesn't mind all that much; and two, the place they'll be going for dinner won't care all that much either.
He does quickly move to try and catch up with her, already able to catch up in only a few quick strides. Perks of having longer legs, apparently. ]
[Curse his long legs, except not really, but seeing him catch up, she squeaks and pushes herself to run faster. And while she's pretty fast, she's still no match for him, especially not in nice heels. She'll arrive about fifteen seconds after him, panting and leaning against the jungle gym trying to catch her breath.]

[ David lets out a fond sigh as she reaches up to touch his face as they kiss, his expression softening a bit. ]
How bad has it been so far?

That's good. Though what's happening with your brother?

[ David gives a small smile, framing her face with his hands before giving her a sweet kiss to try and help take her mind off of it. ]
Come on, let's keep going. [ He shifts a little to grasp her hand and gently take it in his while they continue walking. ]

Yeah, think we're good for a bit yet. [ He grins at her, raising his eyebrows a little in a challenge. ]
Wanna race over there?

You bet I do!
