I'm not trying to be condescending on this, Minako, I promise. I do respect you as a fighter, and I'm actually really, really glad you're taking it seriously.
Though is it honestly so wrong for me to find it endearing too?
I'm sorry for misunderstanding, that was kind of a kneejerk reaction...
because I mean I actually really was happy when you said I was cute in general!
I just don't want you to misunderstand why I'm taking lessons with you
I want to impress you but not
seem like I'm grandstanding or anything??
or that I'm taking advantage of your time
or you
I don't want you to see me as this girl who needs coddling or special treatment because I'm "cute", that's the exact opposite of why I wanted to start kickboxing with you in the first place
and I don't want you to see me as someone just running her mouth and thinking she's all that either, when I make those jokes
that's just me being silly and pumping myself up to do better
[ It takes him a few minutes to process this before he takes a deep breath. Well. No turning back on this one. ]
Hey.
it's fine, really
I don't think any of those things
you're strong, smart, funny I would've cut off lessons if I ever thought you were just in it to take advantage of me or my time and if I've ever come off as overbearing in lessons, it's
it's because I get stupid protective of people I like and not just because of my job as a bodyguard I want to make sure people don't get hurt
[She's staring so intently at her phone, anxiously waiting for his reply that things are still okay between them, that she jumps when it finally comes.]
no!!
I don't think you're overbearing at all
and even if you were, that's a part of who you are, and part of why I want to learn from you
to be able to protect the people important to me, too
if it means that I'm on your list of people you like, then all the better, I think!
it's fine if you say I am, I won't be any harder on you if you say so
but if you're sure
and I mean it on that. my whole job revolves around protecting someone but it's the only part of my work life I want to bleed over into my personal one. because I do want to do that for more people than just my boss
though, real talk?
this is probably the first time I've felt like this in a while.
I wouldn't mind at all. I'm technically doing it now, aren't I? besides, it's a nice reassurance to know that you're considered amazing by someone that you admire and like.
you're going to make me spontaneously combust from all of these compliments (灬ᗒ 艸ᗕ灬)
[immediately regrets that text after she sends it though because WHY WOULD SHE ADMIT SHE'S EMBARRASSED HASN'T THIS WHOLE CONVERSATION BEEN EMBARRASSING ENOUGH???]
UM
ANYWAYS
if YOU ever need the reminder
I'll tell you whenever you need to hear it too! (✩´꒳`✩)
David you're amazingggg (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑
though I bet you don't hehe, bodyguards have to have a lot of confidence right?
speaking of which, I'm not interrupting you in the middle of work, am I???
that's a hard one...I like cooking so trying out new recipes is always a lot of fun, and it's cathartic, all that banging on pots and pans when I need to destress
but eating out is great too because I can focus on talking with friends while someone else cooks, and it's nice to be able to try different styles of cooking without doing it myself and realizing I don't like how it tastes or wasting ingredients because I messed up
sooo eating out!
speaking of eating out, would rather be given free five star meals for you and your plus one for the rest of your life, or have an unlimited first class ticket to travel the world for just you instead?
That's a good reason. I can cook but it's really only the basics, and, well - we don't talk about Yoon-sung's cooking abilities. Or lack thereof.
I did enough moving around as a kid with my old man in the service, and honestly I'd rather share travel experiences. So I'd rather go with the five-star meals with someone else, plus I think I figured out who I might want to try that with.
Anyway
Would you rather go out to a club or hang out at the beach?
oh, have you? Too bad I can't actually give you a lifetime of free five-star meals then... (´•ω•`๑)
if you need catering for a picnic lunch, though, come visit Arisato Kitchens, I'll whip something up for you and your someone else! As a thank you to you
the beach! Clubbing every once in a while is fun, but I love the sun and the sand and beach volleyball
and s'mores, lots of s'mores
would you rather go to a concert or go to a karaoke bar?
no subject
yeah, Faolan told me about the text but
honestly I think it's cute
even if it's not something you want to have taken out of context
1/4
I told him not to tell you, I feel so betrayed

I'm still learning

not trying to be cute, I swear
I want to earn your respect as a fighter, David

running my mouth, I mean
I'm rambling
right, stopping now

I guess I kind of unwittingly signed you up for that with me, the night I asked you to escort me to my car
sorry?
no subject
I was more than happy to help with that
honestly I'm p. sure if I saw those guys bothering you again I either would've let you go to town since they clearly didn't learn their lesson.
or maybe step in myself but like I said, that just goes back into the whole 'protect people I like' thing
it's not a slight against your abilities at all
no subject
I'm really happy that you think I'm capable enough already hehe
and...not all those things I mentioned
sorry again for freaking out (꒪꒫꒪;)
but more than that thank you for caring about me
no subject
it's fine, Mina. Honest.
and
[ Don't choke don't choke don't choke- ]
you're an amazing person. never forget that. unless you want me to keep reminding you every now and again?
no subject
and um
I mean I wouldn't mind it at all, I think anyone would like to hear that they're amazing from time to time, especially from
well
an equally amazing person who believes in you
but don't feel like you have to!!! Only when you mean it!

[ ... goddammit why is she so cute. pictured: David's internal monologue ]
But thank you.
Oh, that? Nah, if anything this gives me something to do. Yoon-sung's keeping busy, which makes my life generally easier by default.
no subject
omg definitely need to give you something better to do than read my rambling
uhmmmm
wanna play a game?
no subject
But sure, why not?
[ Smooth. ]

my favorite text game is shiritori since it's so quick but since you're bored, let's play would you rather instead
I'll go first!
would you rather...go to the movies, or go to the gym?
no subject
Movies, I like going to the gym, but the movies can be more fun.
Would you rather eat out or eat in?
no subject
but eating out is great too because I can focus on talking with friends while someone else cooks, and it's nice to be able to try different styles of cooking without doing it myself and realizing I don't like how it tastes or wasting ingredients because I messed up
